Saatchi & Saatchi And Workplace Giving Australia Event Explores Creativity for Good

Saatchi & Saatchi, one of Australia’s leading communications and advertising agencies, hosted Workplace Giving Australia’s member corporations and charities and shared examples from around the world demonstrating how creativity can be used to build stronger connections between companies and their people for good. Held in early September in Pyrmont Sydney at Saatchi & Saatchi’s Publicis Groupe ANZ offices, the event was attended by several of the country’s leading businesses and charities keen to learn more about using creativity for good causes.

Alone, we can do so little;
together we can do so much

Helen Keller

Attendees discovered that people are increasingly choosing to work for corporations with a conscience and with employers who share their values and actively give back to their community. Saatchi & Saatchi’s Chief Executive Officer Patrick Rowe and Publicis Groupe’s ANZ Chief Creative Officer Dave Bowman shared examples from the Cannes Festival of Creativity, including Publicis Groupe’s award winning Working with Cancer initiative, demonstrating how creativity can be used to build stronger connections between companies and their people via a common cause.

Those in attendance explored creative campaigns for good, including:

Guests discovered how others in the sector are addressing challenges and championing workplace giving in their organisations to create connections.

Workplace giving enables support for causes while fostering a sense of purpose and unity within organisations. Recent research highlights that workplace giving offers advantages beyond good corporate citizenship and taxation benefits, with analysis highlighting workforce expectations and talent retention advantages and 85% of the survey respondents saying it is personally important that a company has a workplace giving program. The research also shows that if employers matched staff donations and these employees gave one extra dollar per week, charities could receive an additional $1 billion annually.

Nikki Anstis, Head of Advocacy & Engagement at Workplace Giving Australia, reflects:

With a 13.8 million strong Australian workforce, workplace giving has the potential to change the landscape for charities in Australia, at the same time increasing retention and engagement for businesses.

Entries for the annual workplace giving awards are open for submission, and finalists will be announced on Friday, October 6th with the awards night celebration scheduled for Tuesday, October 31st, in the dual locations of Sydney and Melbourne.
