Downer designs, builds and sustains assets, infrastructure and facilities and we are the leading provider of integrated services in Australia and New Zealand. These services include public transport and transport infrastructure, marine operations, gas, and utilities.

Downer formed in 1933 when Arnold Downer secured a job as a Project Manager with Hansford & Mills to build a tunnel through Wellington’s Mt Victoria. The project brought him in contact with George McLean, Billy Mill and Arch McLean. They formed Downer & Co, which has steadily expanded their operations into what they are today.

The company has a history of social responsibility, including the provision of its learning platform to charities to improve their access to professional development tools.
