CEO Report – December 2021

It is hard to believe that this time last year, I sat down to write this message and was lamenting what a difficult year it had been. Who would have thought that 2021 would match, and in many ways, surpass the challenges of 2021! Yet, despite the tumult, and with our sights set firmly on the future, on 1 December 2021 we announced the merger of Good2Give (G2G) and Workplace Giving Australia (WGA).

Both organisations have been focused on working with business to maximise the impact and benefits of charitable giving. G2G has, and will continue to, provide services and advice underpinned by effective technology.  WGA has been an advocate and advisor in delivering best-practice giving programs. Working together will provide the catalyst needed to dramatically increase workplace giving donations.

At a time when the COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted traditional fundraising initiatives and required charities to rethink how they engage their supporter base, it is vital that Australia’s two leading workplace giving organisations are now jointly focused on dramatically reshaping the sector.

I’m delighted that David Mann has joined the newly merged entity as our CEO. He joins the sector with an extensive background in strategy, operations, and technology. Most recently, David was the Managing Director for the Mergers & Acquisition practice of Accenture in APAC, Middle East and Africa.

Thanks also go to our valued and trusted advisors who provided the probono support needed to help bring our organisations together – Allens, Bain & Co, King&Wood Mallesons, KPMG and Saatchi & Saatchi / Herd MSL.

Last, but certainly not least, thank you again for the dedication that you and your organisation have already given to workplace giving. Your support has been critical to WGA’s success and to the growth of workplace giving to date. Our one million donor target remains and now, with the merged entity now focused on driving towards this goal, I firmly believe that it will be achieved.

Yours sincerely,
Jenny Geddes
CEO, Workplace Giving Australia
