Since 1964, Caritas has been tacking inequality and poverty. Motivated by Catholic principles, the organisation focuses on reducing poverty and alleviating its harmful effects.
Caritas uses the Accompaniment Model, which involves working alongside and with communities to produce meaningful change long term. Communities are systemically analysed and assessed for their strengths and weaknesses and treated on a case-by-case basis. Strengths are harnessed and weaknesses are targeted for minimisation.
